Kappa Sigma Fraternity is strongly committed to making a difference in the lives of others. It is this commitment that has provided the inspiration and vision for A GREATER CAUSE -- our bold initiative to promote volunteerism, citizenship and service to the community.
To dramatically increase volunteerism for charitable causes.
To dramatically increase the number of alumni to serve as volunteers and mentors.
To reinforce to all brothers that Kappa Sigma is for life.
- Chapters and alumni who participate in A GREATER CAUSE are provided with online journals to keep a record of all activities in service to our neighbors and communities.
- Each undergraduate member is asked to donate a minimum of 35 hours per year to community service, and to raise at least $35 for charitable causes.
- Each chapter is asked to have 100% of its eligible members registered to vote, as expected of any good citizen.
- Kappa Sigma rewards individuals and chapters that excel in achieving the goals of the A Greater Cause program.
Kappa Sigma's Military Heroes Campaign was designed to honor and aid the thousands of wounded military veterans returning from active duty. The Military Heroes Campaign provides charitable donations to organizations such as the Fisher House and other entities. The Fisher House Foundation, is a segment of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund that provides free housing to wounded veterans and their families throughout the duration of rehabilitation.
The Fisher House Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides a network of 38 comfort homes on the grounds of military and VA major medical centers. The houses are 5,000 to 16,000 square foot units, with up to 21 suites, donated to the military and Department of Veterans Affairs. The Foundation provides support to families of patients receiving care at the nearby medical center. Further information on the work of Fisher House Foundation, can be found at www.fisherhouse.org or by calling 888-294-8560.
